Stepping Into Success (S.I.S.)

Empower Me- Process

The program includes identifying their skills and abilities, what they need to improve and discovering the barriers that hold them back from achieving their desired goal. It is an interactive program that delves into dealing with and successfully improving self-worth, self-esteem, reducing self-doubt, making wise decisions, and asserting control over circumstances. The Empower Me process also includes developing leadership skills, assertiveness, business etiquette, job search techniques, labour market research and most importantly setting achievable goals and action planning.

Counsellors, peer support groups and life coaches are relied upon to deliver this stage of the program.

The end result for each participant is to have an action plan detailing the steps they will need to take to achieve their goals and acquire the necessary tools and techniques to move beyond surviving and closer to thriving.

Our program is a full year commitment that allows women to transform their lives becoming more confident, career-oriented and employable thus creating better lives for themselves, their children and their communities.

Bridging the gap from where you are now and where you want to be. We begin with an in-depth evaluation of each woman’s education, employment and life status.

Style By Design- Outer Transformation - Step 6

“You never get a second chance to make a first impression!”

In this process clients will learn the importance of personal grooming and making a great first impression. The women will each get a personal outer transformation. Complete business attire will be donated to each woman by Dress For Success.

The professional stylist will show you how to still look and feel great even outside the office.
Casual attire will be donated to each woman.

  • Fresh Food Certificate or Gift Card allowing the women to purchase healthy food for themselves and their children

  • Dollarama Gift Card to purchase household items
  • Care Package also includes Journals and training binders and papers

Once the women graduate and are ready for employment we work with Dress For Success who supplies each participant with business attire which includes clothing, accessories and shoes.


Hospitality Operations Management Certificate Program

New Beginnings has partnered with George Brown College through their Community Partnerships Initiative Department to develop a customized program to give our women the essential skills they need to meet the demand of growing tourism and hospitality industry in Toronto and build sustainable careers.

Our women face barriers to entry in traditional higher education and employment, and this program presents a viable route to build on the holistic life-skills and career path development to move them to self-sufficiency. They develop self-worth, confidence, resilience, and the ability to resolve conflict in their social life but especially in the work place environment that will increase their chances for long-term success. New Beginnings core programming with continuous follow up for a year along with George Brown’s career training allows the women to be more marketable in this competitive job market.

This customized program will help participants navigate the educational system, get essential skills training and receive a certificate upon completion. The capstone to the program is a paid work-placement to give participants desperately needed on-the-job experience, grow their networks, and transition permanently out of poverty.
