New Beginnings Support Program is governed by a group of dynamic and talented individuals, who have given their time and expertise to further New Beginnings’ mission. Our goal is to create better lives and opportunities for women and their children. Collectively they have over 30 years of experience in: Mental and Physical health, Marketing, Business Management, Sales, Coaching, Career and Vocational Counseling.

Stephen R. Shea – Chair

Stephen is the Managing Partner, Talent for EY in Canada. He is responsible for leading all facets of the firm’s people strategy for both partners and staff. He is a member of the firm’s Inclusiveness Steering Committee where he co-chairs with the Firm’s Chairman and CEO.

Throughout Stephen’s career he has excelled as a client service partner in both the Audit and most recently the Advisory practice of the firm. He has provided leadership through counselling, mentoring and sponsorship to people within the firm at all levels.

Laura Schlee

Assistant Director, National EY Ripples Corporate Responsibility Leader, Laura is a chartered accountant with business honours from Ivey Business School/ Western University. AT EY she engages with donors, volunteers and leaders across 40 law, consulting, and not-for-profit organizations to support their fundraising and employee campaign efforts, and promoted awareness of the impact of United Way across the GTA to employee groups of all levels through public speaking and presentations. She is eager to help people develop their skills and strengths to overcome poverty and move towards self- sufficiency. 

Paul Hartford

Paul Hartford is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional working as a Health & Safety Consultant with Workplace Safety & Prevention Services, a key player in the Ontario occupational health & safety system.

WSPS brings together community and business leaders to influence positive change to create a safer and more profitable Ontario.

Scott Lemke

Lemke Law Professional Corporation Scott has a broad corporate and commercial practice, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, financing, joint ventures, and partnerships. Scott also practices real estate law, with an emphasis on residential transactions, refinancing and commercial leasing.

Kahlia Castelle

Kahlia Castelle is a training and development professional who is currently employed as a Manager of Learning & Curriculum Development with the largest membership association for financial advisors and planners in Canada. Kahlia is a certified Teacher of English as a Second Language (TESL), and volunteers as a career mentor with numerous nonprofit organizations across Ontario. She is passionate about empowering vulnerable and marginalized groups to raise their level of autonomy, develop social resilience and reach economic self-reliance. Kahlia is committed to helping build sustainable communities.
